I sent a message to myself using messenger and it never arrived. This is despite the fact that it is seen in the sent box. very strange

Pls specify which build you are using (ie. M8 release build, 7/17 debug build, etc). Thanks. Also, can you receive messages using 5.0 if you send yourself a message from Communicator 4.5 or some other mail program? Can you send mail in 5.0 and receive it in Communicator 4.5 or some other mail program? We do have one open bug where if you address a message to both a newsgroup and an email address, the message never arrives in the Inbox. See: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9508

One more thing, can you paste in this bug report (or email me), the mailnews configuration prefs you entered into prefs50.js? (Remember to replace your clear text password with something else so I don't see it =)).

I saw this bug Under windows 98 using Saturdays debug build. I had migrated my profile and tried the account setup wizard is messenger, it did not seem to work but when I restarted apprunner all my inbox etc. stuff was there. It also does not seem to be able to recieve messages . You need to change this preference to contain your clear text password for the host: pop3.tor.myna.net user_pref("mail.server.server1.password", "enter your clear text password here"); Without a valid passord, get new mail would fail because we would fail to correctly authenticate you with the pop server. Also, we had a regression on 7/16 with sending. See reopened (and now fixed again) bug http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4561. Perhaps you ran into this.

Confirmed, I put in my password and it worked, so the 'bug' was just me not doing the prefs50.js properly. probably should have been an error message about this though.

Moving all Mail/News Networking bugs to Mail/News Networking-Mail This may re-open previously Verified bugs due to a Bugzilla bug...if so, I will fix those bugs.

Win_nt 4.0 (1999-08-16-09 M9), Linux and Mac(1999-08-16-08 M9) Sent message works. It arrives in the recipient's account.
