Details

Mozilla needs to have spell checker option in context menu of a TEXTAREA wiget. It makes cense to have spell checker available when filling out forms, etc. Every form, including bugzilla, would greatly benefit from this build-in feature. The way is should work is like in mail: by bringing up spell checker dialog and looping around to current cursor position. Obviously, the spell checker in context menu should only be available if spell checker engine is installed.
This looks INVALID. It is a feature request for the Mozdev Spellchecker, not Mozilla.
G. Wallace: This has nothing to do with spellchecker engine per se. This is more about Mozilla UI. It's about having access to spellchecker in TEXTAREA wiget in the browser. This feature would help Mozilla to distinguish itself from other - unnamed here - browsers.
According to bug 56301, there is a generic nsISpellchecker interface, which is used to plug in a proprietary spell checker in the commercial build; the Mozdev Spellchecker project is an Open Source spellchecker for use in the non-commercial build. Giving access in TEXTAREA to whichever spellchecker is available seems like a good idea. Confirming bug as NEW.
