Details

The :first-letter pseudo-element doesn't seem to work when the first letter of the block-level element is also inside an inline element. Section 8 of the test page shows an example.

Specwise, this is described in http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS1.html#multiple-pseudo-elements I suggest creating these pseudo-elements: <H1><SPAN><H1:first-letter>T</H1:first-letter>the first...</SPAN></H1>
