* TITLE/SUMMARY ss: www.mp3.com/hardware kills [xp]Viewer (no crash, app just halts) * STEPS TO REPRODUCE 0) Point 11/23/98a build of viewer or xpviewer to http://www.mp3.com/hardware * RESULT - What happened Win98: Freezes at 'transferring data from www.mp3.com', with no actual page content displayed; actual crash, but app ceases to respond, and Netscape animation halts. No HD activity takes place. Content window not redrawn if covered up with another app. Win NT 4.0: On Composer lab PC, same behavior as Win98; on the PC in my cubicle (also using NT 4 SP3), the first table on the page is horked. (Can provide exact description of behavior if desired; am writing bug report from lab, not cubicle. ;) * REGRESSION - Occurs On viewer.exe (11.23.98a build used) xpviewer.exe (11.23.98a build used) - Doesn't Occur On Communicator 4.5 for Win32 (RTM Complete build used) * CONFIGURATIONS TESTED - Windows NT 4.0 SP 3, 96 MB RAM. - Windows 98, 48 MB RAM

Summary: ss: www.mp3.com/hardware kills [xp | ]Viewer → www.mp3.com/hardware kills [xp | ]Viewer
11.24.98 build no longer crashes Win98 or Win NT 4.0, but the first table on the page is very much misrendered. (There was a significant pause of about 5-8 seconds on the Win NT box prior to laying out the page, but nothing like before.) Removing "ss:" from bug title, and reducing priority/severity.
Flog me with a chainsaw, dudes. This actually does irreproducibly bring down the viewer app on Windows NT using the 11.24.98 build (no crash, no BSOD; app just vanishes).

No longer hangs, but shows <LI> bug (a new bug will be written).
Well, it does no longer crash, but it definitely doesn't render at all on Win98 or NT4 SP3. (Blank page, and the Netscape logo keeps cycling indefinitely. Stopped looking after a few minutes...) I'm not sure whether or not to mark this verified, so I'll go ahead and see if I can disassemble the web page and see what's the causatory factor.
Status: RESOLVED → VERIFIED
Cross-platform table viewing issues aside, this page views okay on 1.20.99 Mac OS build and 1.19.99 Win32 build; thus, marked as verified.
