11-28 XPViewer on WinNT/95 *note bug does not appear on Win95 viewer.exe On Winamp's homepage a horizontal scrollbar appears for no reason and when you scroll to the right to see what's there you a presented with 4 pages worth of whitespace. I believe this bug and bug #1537 are closely related(if not just different manifestations of the same problem) as they seem to travel together. This is an instance of one without the other however. I've marked it with the highest priority b/c this bug and 1537 seem to appear all over the Top 100 - well okay, 6 out of the bottom 20. Additional places to view/test this bug(or 1537): gamestats.com, warzones.com, ogr.com, nasa.gov, quicken.com

www.winamp.com looks ok on my 11/30 NT debug build (viewer and xpviewer). Some of the other sites mentioned have bad layout and involve tables. I am reassigning this to Steve since he still owns tables.
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
ogr is the only remaining URL mentioned in this bug report that seems to have a table-related problem. Other URLs have been submitted as separate bugs, assigned to rickg as parser bugs.

looks like a parser problem. Once the content is correct, if the page still doesn't look right reassin to me. As noted in other comments, ogr is the only remaining URL that has a problem from the initial report.
A couple other instances of this bug: slashdot.org www.freshmeat.net www.mozillazine.org www.mozilla.org (not a huge scrollbar, but unnecessary) As of 1998-12-19 win32 build.

Since this is an xpviewer, I'm giving it to you. Thanks.
Since this is XP Viewer, claudius...please check with Viewer. If a bug there, then this is legit. Otherwise, XP Viewer is dead if bug is there only, and this would be Invalid.
This is definitely a viewer bug as well
rickg, is jevering he right eng for assignment of this bug?
The 'useless horizontal bloat' problem, in win95 1999-01-08 viewer, goes away after a resize (and thus reflow). That is, there is great useless horizontal bloat on a page, and it disappears once you resize the viewer window.

It appears in viewer as well, probably not my bug.

Well, this one bounced around long enough in bug-purgatory that it appears to have been fixed miraculously. Thank heaven for good interventions.
claudius, please verify with today's build.
claudius, could you please Verify this today? Thanks!
Today's build of mozilla (on ftp.mozilla.org) is most definitely _not_ fixed. (Win95) As before, once the window is resized all is well.
Status: RESOLVED → REOPENED
This bug is reopened because it was never fixed. I just checked again and it definitely occurs with viewer.exe on WinNT and the 01/21/99 build. I modified the reference url to slashdot since it's the most obvious example I saw. Based on inspecting nasa.gov I'm led to believe we are still having problems with nested tables that might be responsible for some of the behaviour. I'm not ready to commit and say that's the root cause however. I will investigate more and report back. In the meantime please take another look

Clearing Fixed resolution.
I think the confusion about this being "fixed" on rickg's part came from a lack of information in the submission. It works fine on NT with a debug build. I think it's the optimized bits only that are broken. We should verify that.
Can't verify til you get it in a optimized build :-)
installing myself as QA Contact for sevaral bugs at once
claudius, please try Feb 01 build, all platforms and post results. Thanks!

With viewer on WinNT and build 99032 this bug seems to be fixed. As per above discussion I'm assuming the builds I would use (sweetlou) are optimized i.e. not debug builds? Never was/is not now a problem on Mac/Linux. Setting status back to FIXED so I can mark it VERIFIED.
Status: RESOLVED → VERIFIED
marking bug verified for WiNT viewer 99032
