I am using Mac System 8.1 Please fix Communicatoer 4.6 and 4.7 so that when a
Bookmark is created it will show the Description, not the URL, without the
need to edit. As I said, it does in 4.06 but not in 4.6. Is it true that
Netscape changed this bookmark feature in the newer versions? If so I can't
understand why. It is so user unfriendly.I have been unable to use the vesions
later than 4.06, because of this "improvement". One clue to you may be that
the description does show as does the URL ,but not enough of the description to
be usefull and to much of the URL. If the column widths could be controlled, I
think I would be happy. Is this possible? This problem is such an obvious going
backward, I feel that it can't have been intended and that there must be a fix.

eBay item 179343125 (Ends 10/20/99, 16:50:51 PDT) - 700 pc Wooden Puzzle Castle
of Maidens Hard!! This is the way Bookmarks appear in Communicator 4.06
In 4.6 only the first 30 or so characters appear and then the URL appears thus
cutting off the Description ofthe item and continuing with the URL which is
useless to me , but of c0urse not the computer.

Have you already tested this in 5.0 and determined that the new implementation
has the same defect as the 4.x version?
No I haven't, I don't have it. But why are we playing games, this is your
product. Don't you know what it does. Which versions do save Bookmarks
showing the full description, as 4.06 does?

Mozilla is a community product, it does not belong to Netscape. Netscape
developers happen to be working hard on it.
Mozilla has been extensively rewritten from 4.x, and so a large number of issues
have disappeared. It is very difficult to keep up with all of the issues that
get reported, especially since Mozilla is still being developed, so a little bit
of help from the bug reporter is always appreciated and will only end up
helping you.
This is a bug system for a product that you haven't tested. That doesn't strike
me as elig's problem. You can download an alpha version of Mozilla at
http://www.mozilla.org/binaries.html.
I admit that it is not entirely obvious that this is for 5.x only. I have
submitted bug #17156 on this.

BTW, I haven't seen this on Communicator 4.6 or 4.7 for Linux, nor on any builds
on Mozilla for Windows or Linux. So I suspect it's not a problem. But you're
the best person to say this.

"Not a problem" because 5.x is extremely cross-platform - 4.x had more
platform-specific code that could cause platform parity issues.

As Matt said (thanks!), this is a different product, and most 4.x bugs are no
longer relevant.
That said, this bug is already fixed in Mac Mozilla. Verifying as WORKSFORME.
