Overview Description: Looks like Java is not enabled after installing Seamonkey. In the past you copied the Netscape Plugins folder containing 2 files: MRJPlugin.jar and MRJinABox to the System:Extensions folder. This no longer works. I have gotten it to work by copying the above mentioned files to the Plugins folder in the mozilla-mac-M11 folder. Steps to Reproduce: 1) Install seamonkey from sweetlou 2) Go to the javasoft site and click on an applet 3) Error says that it does not recognize the <Applet> tag Actual Results: Java not enabled Expected Results: Applets should load and run Build Date & Platform Bug Found: 1999110913 Additional Builds and Platforms Tested On: None Additional Information:
Severity: normal → critical
Summary: OJI not enabled after running Mac install → [DOGFOOD]OJI not enabled after running Mac install
Target Milestone: M12
How is this bug different from bug 13848? I thought the outcome of 13848 was that the installer doesn't have to configure or install anything special to get MRJ to work through OJI. I'm inclined to mark this as a dup but think I maybe missing something so please clarify. Note also that bug 13848 is not yet marked resolved.
They are similar bugs but I think the plugin needs to be part of the install. When the plugin is added, the Mac recognizes it and loads the Applet.

OK, I'll look into this, but it won't go into the Mozilla installer, only the commercial: just as JRE is bundled with the commercial Win32 installer. The commercial installer should go live in a week or so.

I haven't heard back from Patrick. I'm going to mark this as a dup. If bug 13848 does not fix this we can revisit. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 13848 ***
