This is a feature tracking bug for displaying recipient information in the
thread pane. I can think of two ways to do this:
The 4.5 way to do this is that any folder with the Sent flag set, and any of its
child folders, display recipient instead of Sender. The label in the column
header is also expected to change.
Some of the early UE specs showed a To/From column instead of the 4.x-style
Sender column. Although I don't know for sure, I assume that the idea is to look
at the From header, and if it's the same as the current identity, show the To
(or Newsgroups?) header. This has the advantage that it works when you're
keeping a whole thread (both sent and received messages) together.

from duplicate bug report: drafts and unsent messages should also display the
recipient in the column.

Good idea

Phil, I like your idea to compare the from with the email address of the current
identity. I always keep threads subject-based and the 4.x behaviour annoys me.
Will we have configurable columns? If yes, I suggest to offer the described
combined To/From field (default) and additionally separate to and from field,
for that
case, the proposed logic fails (which may well happen in some advanced cases).

the Sent folder now displays the Recipient column. If we want any of the other
features mentioned in this bug then we should open new ones.

OK using:
2000-04-21-09 m16 commercial build NT 4.0
2000-04-21-09 m16 commercial build linux rh 6.0
2000-04-21-10 m16 commercial build mac OS 9.0
Recipient shown in place of Sender column heading for any folder currently being
used for copies of sent messages by any account in the profile.
If a folder, even if it's named "Sent", is not currently specified in
Copies&Folders Sent setting for any account, it will show Sender as the column
heading... this may be confusing for folders named Sent... will take up as a
separate issue.

laurel, I don't think, we should change this behaviour. DO you also want to
recognize "Gesendete Nachrichten"? If not, why not? folders called "Sent" will
most likely be mentioned in the prefs.

I don't think we should make all folders called Sent have the recipient column.
I think it should be based on the preference. What we need, in my opinion, is to
bring back having icons for the Sent, Drafts and Templates folders.

Lisa, which part? If it's "Gesendete Nachrichten": This is a common translation
of "Sent" to German. We can't check for all translations, and I don't think, we
should favor one language. Even apart from that, recognizing "Sent" would be a
hack IMO.

Agree with Putterman. Should be based on what is set as the "Sent" folder in
Prefs.

OK. I was just thinking if people look at Sent folders which we've created, say
under local folders, even though they're currently using the server's sent
folder it might be weird to see recipient column in one Sent and not the other.

Good point. It would be nice if we could also do this for the "Sent" folder
under Local (the one that we created).
But any folders that the users creates and happens to name "Sent" (or
equivelent in different language) wouldn't be affected.
Agree with Scott that the graphics for special folders is helpful (different
issue!).
