If you go to Edit and look close at the text "Wallet" you'll see that there are some pixels missing from the W. The same thing happens under "View -> Character Set ISO" with the word "Western" This is the same all over Mozilla, where the first char is a "W" Can anyone else reproduce this? I'm running 1999111909 on Windows98 SE

OS: Windows 98 → All
Changing OS to ALL, as I can see this for a long time in Linux builds as well. Don't know on which other platforms it happens. Mac people?
A similar problem is described in bug 11331, are they related ?

I don't think this is layout. It sounds like a gfx issue
Also see the trailing w in the "Open in new window" label that appears in the File/Open Web Location dialog box.
This is not a Netscape issue. It happens especially on Arial font (windows) where the first letter of a line is a capital "W". As a developer, the solution that I've always used has been adding a space before the W. In the words of Ace Ventura, "DAMN IM GOOD"
icos@digitalchat.net: if this is really the problem then why does it also occur in Linux as well?
This is not limited to fonts. Place a border around the menubar buttuns. One pixel is what I used. The left side of the button box does not render. Its cut off. It seems mozilla is cropping of the first pixel column in all of the windows. But I haven't tested this theory extensively.
cc'ing myself... Is this for Arial font only? I still stand by my theory, and it may very well be cross platform
