(This bug imported from BugSplat, Netscape's internal bugsystem. It was known there as bug #380110 http://scopus.netscape.com/bugsplat/show_bug.cgi?id=380110 Imported into Bugzilla on 12/13/99 09:39) A customer has asked for the option to be able to filter mails that are being sent out. Here is their description of what they wanted: ----- The sort of thing I was thinking of was the ability to nominate a folder in which to save an email before sending it. So rather than having only a default "sent" folder, I could nominate that say, this particular email be filed to my folder called "Trams", but another email that I send about say, staff seminars, could be filed to my folder called "Seminars". (An example of the type of function I am thinking of can be seen in "Sharkmail", where you can either hit "send" and the message goes to the default folder for sent mail, or you can hit "done" and you can then choose to send, or to send and delete, or to send and file to a folder of your choice). ------ Thanks ------- Additional Comments From hong Dec-13-1999 09:39 ------- RFEs will not be considered in 4.x. That being said, the functionality exists (in a somewhat limited fashion). Ask the customer to try the following: 1) In Edit->Preferences->Mail & Newsgroups->Copies & Folders, check the BCC: <user's email address> option. 2) From Messenger, pick Edit->Mail Filters. Create a new filter: - click on "Match all of the following" - set rule: If the sender is <user's email address> - click on "More" - set rule: If the subject is <desired subject to filter> - set desired filter action. In this way, the customer will be able to filter mail given various criteria since it is always BCC'd to him/herself. Moving to 5.0.
