win32 win_nt 4.0 (1999-12-15-09 M12) Steps: 1. Launch Messenger 2. Select Task|Address Book from Messenger 3. Click on the New Card button to display New Card dialog 4. Type name in the First name field, press Enter 5. Set focus in the Last name field, type last name Actual result: The New Card dialog closes automatically Expected result: It should not be closed automatically. It should only close when I press the OK button. This does not happen on Linux. Will check Mac later.

I do not think this is a bug. Pressing enter should activate the default button in a dialog, in this case "OK". I think this bug should be removed. If you agree please do so.
Mac (1999-12-15-08 M12) This problem also occurs on the Mac. Paul, I disagree. In Nova, when I press Enter, it does nothing in the dialog. I have to click on OK to close the dialog. The same happens on Linux. What do you think? Lisa.

This is working as designed. All dialogs with an OK button that is designated to be the default button should activate the OK button when return or enter are pressed. Currently this is just barely working but as you have seen Enter now activates the OK button on some dialogs, soon it will work this way on all dialogs and all platforms.

Paul, thanks for explaining this to me in person. This means, Mac and Win_nt is working as it is supposed to. Dialog should automatically close when pressing Enter. However, since Linux does not close the New card dialog when pressing Enter, I am going to comment it in bug 21868, As for this bug, I am going to close it.
