For every newsgroup, these values are displayed in the lower right corner
regardless of the real values of unread and total messages:
Unread: -2 Total: -1
The 'mail folder' tree does also not see any unread messages (the newsgroup name
is not bold for a group containing unread messages).
I think this is a new bug, but these might be related to:
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18825
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8075
This happens on the 1999121915 build on Win98. I have two different newsgroup
servers configured and this happens on both.

In the old code, -1 and -2 were sentinel values which had special meaning (like
"don't know how many messages"). Reassigning to putterman for M14, cc sspitzer.

This turned out to be a dup of 22570. I saw the bug on nbaca's machine and then
we ran today's build after my fix and it worked again.
