* TITLE/SUMMARY [PP] Font spacing completely horked on stock iMac * STEPS TO REPRODUCE 0) Launch Apprunner 1) Type into the URL bar, and watch the cursor become increasingly misaligned. * RESULT - What happened The font display & spacing is completely horked, although less so with ATM running. Bitmaps enclosed (PICT files). I'd try to track this down further, but the UI provides no indication of what font is actually being used, and I'd rather not waste time guessing; I'm assuming Apprunner requires a font that isn't present, and is responding clumsily when it fails to find it. - What was expected Users shouldn't need any special fonts to run Apprunner; if they do, they should be told what they are, rather than seeing spacing problems & messed up text. * REGRESSION - Occurs On Mac OS Apprunner (final M12 candidate) - Doesn't Occur On any other system * CONFIGURATIONS TESTED - [Mac] Beige Power Mac G3 (266 MHz PowerPC 750), 96 MB RAM (VM on; 1 MB of VM used), 1024x768 (Thousands of Colors), Mac OS 8.6 - [Win32] Vectra VL (233 MHz P2), 96 MB RAM, 800x600 (True Color), NT 4.0 SP5. - [Linux] Vectra VL (266 MHz P2), 96 MB RAM. Red Hat Linux 6.0 (GNOME).

Sounds like some kind of iMac-specific GFX problem.
Tried it on a new DV iMac, running OS 9, and M12 looks just fine to me. How much memory, what OS, etc. was on the iMac in question?
It's an early 64 MB Rev A iMac, came with Mac OS 8.1, and upgraded to Mac OS 8.6. (2nd floor b21; you're welcome to check it out.)

I'm going to assign this to Pierre, he is doing some work with fonts and this may be something he could resolve.

Summary: [PP] [BETA] Font spacing completely horked on stock iMac → {font}[PP][BETA]Font spacing completely horked on stock iMac
Target Milestone: M20 → M14
M20 was just a convenient way for me to see the font-related bugs in my list. Using the {font} tag in the summary line instead.

Due to Beta indication in Summary, putting beta1 into keyword field.

Please note that the iMac in question is no longer accessible, and has been replaced with a different Macintosh.
We need the iMac back to fix that bug. Reassigned to leger.

I'm not sure if that's possible; the refresh people have taken it. I've asked paulmac to find out if we can get it back (if it's not already reformatted). On the other hand, if nobody else has reported encountering this problem, perhaps it's not very important.
Setting Assigned from leger to beard.

Putting on PDT- radar for beta1. Elig, you have a g4...can you lend these guys the imac?

Summary: {font}[PP][BETA]Font spacing completely horked on stock iMac → {font}Font spacing completely horked on stock iMac
Looks like an ATM fractional font spacing issue to me, or something wrong with the fonts themselves. Are you absolutely sure this is a stock iMac? Can this be reproduced on any other iMac?
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
Target Milestone: M14 → M15
Couldn't reproduce on the only other iMac available. We're currently trying to get the iMac back...
Could this be a duplicate of bug #<a href="http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ show_bug.cgi?id=20211">20211</a>?

Bug #20211 looks exactly like what I was seeing. I'm going to re-resolve this as a duplicate.
