I am unable to add a comment to bug 26904. After typing comments into the "Additional Comments:" field and pressing the commit button, I get the error: The name mozilla@bucksch.or is not a valid username. Either you misspelled it, or the person has not registered for a Bugzilla account. Please hit the Back button and try again. I have not touched the "CC" field. Reloading and retyping the comment does not help.

Is that name a typo ? (mozilla@bucksch.org) ^ If it isn't, this would rather seem an autofill bug as Bugzilla correctly refuses access to an invalid emailaddress.

No, what's happening is your browser (running on the Macintosh, apparently) seems to be truncating the CC field to 255 characters. This isn't a Bugzilla bug, it's a bug with your browser. On the chance that you are running the Mozilla browser, I am reassigning this to the Browser product. If you are not running the Mozilla browser, then please close this bug and pursue the browser bug in the appropriate arena.

Eric, are we limiting the amount of characters in a field.

Browser is Communicator 4.71 or 4.72 on Mac, I forget exactly which.

Test comment posted to Bug 26904 using M13 Win95 successfully. As terry@mozilla.org said this bug should be closed if jgmyers@netscape.com was not running Mozilla, and they confirmed they weren't, and the test post was successful, I am closing this as INVALID. Nice to have a bug whereby you _can_ use Bugzilla with Mozilla but not with Netscape 4.7, rather than the other way around :-) Gerv
