Select Preferences\Mail & Newsgroups\Mail Servers\Incoming Mail Servers.
Select a server and select Edit.
Change the mail server name and then select OK.
Then select any other option in the Preferneces dialog and re-select the Mail
Servers item.
Notice the name of the server has been deleted.
If you select OK from the Preferences dialog directly after changing the server
name, the change remains intact.
This doesn't seem possible. You aren't allowed to change the name of an incoming
mail server once you select a mail server and click Edit....

Checked this again on the shipping version and it should read:
Select Preferences\Mail & Newsgroups\Mail Servers\Incoming Mail Servers.
Select a server and select Edit.
Change the mail server name and then select OK.
Then select any other category - e.g. Newsgroup Servers - in the Prefernces
dialog and re-select the Mail Servers item.
Notice the name of the server has been deleted.
If you select OK from the Preferences dialog directly after changing the server
name, the change remains intact.
It actually does allow you to change the name! Maybe the "Server Name" field in
the Mail Server Properties dialog should be grayed out!

Batch-reassigning my open Messenger bugs to phil.

Doesn't meet marek's 4.51 criteria. TFV 5.0
This seems like an FE-specific problem, so reassigning this to warren for
distribution to whomever is doing the prefs UI in 5.0
<sorry for the bug notification intrusion> I (or someone else) will be moving
enhancements, etc, bugs targeted for 5.0 to bugzilla in the near future.
I still see where you can change them mail server name. I'm going to cc: pmock
- Peter - am I missing something??
Yes, you can change the Incoming Mail Server name if you are using POP. Once you
change your Mail Server Type from POP to IMAP and save changes, the server name
becomes not editable.
Summary: Preferences doesn't keep with mail server selection. → POP: Preferences doesn't keep with mail server selection.

Seems unlikely this will be the same in 5.0, but reassigning to chuang since
she's probably doing the prefs UI.

Change target milestone to M5.

Reassign to alecf, this part will be in the multiple idenetity area. Move to M6
since pref UI is not final.

I'm now marking this invalid because the entire UI for mail servers has changed
for 5.0.

Marking verified as invalid. We have a test spec to test the preferences when
it gets implemented in the UI. We'll try changing mail servers as part of our
tests.
