(This bug imported from BugSplat, Netscape's internal bugsystem. It was known there as bug #330535 http://scopus.netscape.com/bugsplat/show_bug.cgi?id=330535 Imported into Bugzilla on 02/04/99 16:44) From Dean Horvath, demarka@earthlink.net: When using three pane view, if you choose to 'right mouse/mark newsgroup read', you get a dialog box informing you that there are xxx new messages/download all (or) mark xxx messages read". Most annoying. If I had wanted to read them, I wouldn't have chose right mouse mark newsgroup read, would I? Dismiss the dialog box, and then you can right mouse mark read as desired. Bad feature or bug? You be the judge.......
This sounds like an FE bug to me - Mark all read shouldn't download new messages; it should just make the ones we have as read. I think that Mac does the right thing: If I go to a newsgroup that I have just recently subscribed to (which has say 10000 messages), then I can Ctrl Click on it and mark all as read. Then when I select that news group, I get the standard "There are xxx messages", but when they are downloaded, they are already marked as read. Should this go into the 4.51 bucket? You decide...
Batch-reassigning my open Messenger bugs to phil.
Doesn't meet marek's 4.51 criteria. TFV 5.0
