Click on today's installer says gives me the "Another instance running... close it.." dialog. But there is not another instance. I was running Seamonkey and 4.x in this sessions before I tried the installer. Using the installer right after rebooting doesn't present this error. -kevin
Kevin, did you have a mozilla.exe running? Also, sometimes, if mozilla crashes, mozilla.exe process can still hanging around in your system. I'm highly suspecting this is the case. Can you verify again with same build or tomorrow's build?
Mozilla probably did not shutdown properly. If you're runnin NT, you can bring up the Task Manager and view the Processes tab. You should see mozilla.exe still running. This would be a mozilla bug if it can't shut itself down properly. I'm marking this as invalid. Please reopen this bug if you find the problem is otherwise.

I did check NT processes -- it was all clear. -kevin
Talked to Kevin. He was looking at the Applications tab, not the Processes tab. He'll reopen bug if he notices that killing mozilla.exe from the Processes tab doesn't alleviate problem.
