Details
Build: 2000030809, Linux 2.2.14 x86, Slackware 7.0
The problem: Mozilla exits with segmentation fault when search results sidebar
is clicked.
How to reproduce: Start mozilla. Type something in the location bar. Click
search. Click on the collapsed Search Results tab in the sidebar. Mozilla
segfaults.
Details: I am using google as my search engine, and I have the option set to
open the search results sidebar when search results are available.

Hunh? The steps to reproduce are inconsistent. If you do a search in the location bar and you have your prefs set that way when
the sidebar opens it opens to the expanded Search Results panel - it isn't collapsed. and google is no longer a choice for current
builds. Do a 'clean' install and try this again.
clean on linux = removing your .mozilla directory.
Well yes it is inconsistent but it reflects exactly what is happening. The
search results tab doesn't pop up like it ought to. I'll try clearing out the
.mozilla directory after i get home this evening (PST).

Okay it is much easier to reproduce the problem than I thought. I removed my
.mozilla directory and created a new profile. To reproduce the problem, I
simply click on sidebar tabs until mozilla segfaults. It isn't hard at all: it
usually happens on the first or second sidebar click. I haven't modified the
default profile in the least.
BTW, Google still appears in the list of search engines in the 2000030809 build.

I still can't reproduce with the 2000030913 builds on RedHat 6.0. I'll keep trying though.

I am not seeing this anymore on 2000031615 i686-pc-linux-gnu. Guess it was a
transient. I'll even resolve it for you :)
