Using 2000-03-14-05-nb1b mozilla build mac OS 9.0 I'm logging this bug because it happens to me all the time... refer to comments in bug #29908 from sfraser about "zombie thread on quit" bug, which he believed this to be last time I submitted a macsbug report for this problem. He also mentioned there wasn't a bug report logged on the "zombie" problem -- now there is. I've seen this in mar10 m15 build and mar14-05-nb1b1 build on mac. Steps to reproduce: 1. Launch to browser, open mail window. 2. Login to IMAP account, open inbox, select a message and let it finish loading. 3. Close the mail window (I did so via close box). 4. Back in browser... sometimes app is already hung now, click anywhere doesn't appear to register. Otherwise, select Tasks|Mail. Notice nothing happens, mail window doesn't appear. Now application is hung.

This does indeed look like the 'zombie thread on quit' problem.

Pleeeease fix this... I'm hitting this pretty much every time I use Mac builds. By the way, I included a mention of this in mailnews release notes.

Yes, I see it happening with POP accounts, too.

My inbox hangs too at message 1820 out of 4000. I suspect it has something to do with a particular message it's trying to download. Not sure if it's the same problem, but I think mscott should investigate.

I don't think it's the same problem. Laurel doesn't have a problem with getting stuck downloading a particular message. She gets beyond that.

Hmmm... I don't see it using a build from last week, maybe it's really gone (I was seeing it so consistently for a long time). Will try again when today's is available.

I can't get into this state over the last couple days using commercial build. I'll check on a few other QA folks' machines, too. I'm hesitant to close it...

danm fixed a zombie thread problem on 4/10 that would cause this. Did you ever see it after that? My guess is that this is fixed.

No still not seen. Guess we can call it fixed. Will mark it so and someone can reopen it if they disagree.
