My primary email address for Mozilla work is <mozilla@bucksch.org>. If I had a cvs checkin account and checked in, it would should up in the tinderbox page as "mozilla"... We should soon have a LDAP server for mozilla.org, which can also store a nickname for users. Use this instead.
Depends on: 34118
Please do not use http://cvs-mirror.mozilla.org/ as web addresses.
Taking this bug; I'll be doing most of the LDAP tools hacking.

This bug has not been touched for more than nine months. In most cases, that means it has "slipped through the net". Please could the owner take a moment to add a comment to the bug with current status, and/or close it. Thank you :-) Gerv
Reassigning to endico@mozilla.org, as I'm switching groups to work on LDAP integration in Mozilla full-time.

I do not understand this bug. The names which show up are taken from bonsai. This is the name of the user who did the checkin. Are you saying that your bonsai name does not match some other name you wish to see? What tool does the lookup? I am not a netscape/mozilla employee so I do not have access to your system. tinderbox2 is the replacement for tinderbox1 and I am maintianing the new code.

i agree with the invalid resolution. we shouldn't jump through hoops because someone wants to use a silly user id. A userid which is the name of the project is silly. Enough overloading! Also, Ben's login id now contains the string 'benb' so he no longer has this problem.

no fair. i'm supposed to be QA. at some point i'll probably try to reopen this and resummarize. basically what is requested is an ldap server and ldap integration for tinderbox so that instead of using cvs account names we ask the ldap server for the nickname of the cvs account.
> I do not understand this bug. Then don't close it as invalid :). I don't know, what code is the culprit, but any code just takes the username part of the email address of the CVS account and displays that as nick. I.e. if my CVS account were mozilla%bucksch.org, it would display "mozilla" on tinderbox. > Also, Ben's login id now contains the string 'benb' so he no longer has this problem. Yes, but it's silly to - have a special email address for the CVS account just so that tinderbox doesn't break - display "mozilla.BenB" as the one who checked in Also, the bug is not just about me. What timeless said. I don't really care anymore (so I don't reopen), but it's definitely a bug in tinderbox.
