When you start the installer there's this dull default windows installer image to the left in the installer. The Netscape installer has a new more cool image. So should Mozilla!
Where is the current image located? Is it a BMP image?
yes it is a simple windows .bmp file located at: mozilla/xpinstall/wizard/windows/setuprsc/bitmap1.bmp Not quite a descriptive name yet, but it was only intended to be a place holder.
Why not a large Mozilla star at the top, as the beginning of a series of stars which flow into a computer at the bottom? Miniature mock-up: * * , . . [] '==`

Since the splash screen and the default page for mail both use images of Mozilla That were on Netscape's site when Navigator was Beta 0.9, it would be cool if the Installer also had an image from that time. Since Henrik asked for a "cool image", I adapted the image from the "Cool Tricks" page.
For the next attempt: * Start with a blank background (in a color *other* than green). * Draw a computer which looks a bit more up-to-date than that boxy Win95 one, if possible. * Place the lizard and computer where desired. * Double the width and height of the image, using nearest-neighbour interpolation. * Draw your special effects between the lizard and the computer. * Halve the width and height of the image, using bicubic interpolation. That way it should look a bit more professional.

Another try. Can the installer handle 24 bit color?

all nice pictures, but I've checked something else in that uses mozilla.org's mozilla image. Let me see if i can attach it here. I'm still open to different images.
