Build 2000040909 Browse to the Japanese page http://www.ascii.co.jp/ascii24/call.cgi?file=issue/2000/0406/soft03.html This takes 3 seconds. AutoTranslate it from Japanese to English. Page takes 35 seconds to AutoTranslate.

It took 7 seconds for the server just to answer! The page was then loaded in an additional 20 seconds on a T1. I tried a few more times and it ran around 30 seconds all the time and even timed-out once. Yesterday, I also checked and it took 35 seconds to load the original page. We have seen some occasional performance problems for other reasons, but this page is particularily slow by itself. The translation time was benchmarked to 55,62,timeout,52 and 60 seconds. You also have to take into account it's size 27K for the original and 38K for the translated page (due to the double byte nature of the original) The translated page is more than 3 times the size of the average internet page of 12K.
