(This bug imported from BugSplat, Netscape's internal bugsystem. It was known there as bug #69961 http://scopus.netscape.com/bugsplat/show_bug.cgi?id=69961 Imported into Bugzilla on 04/18/00 16:31) ------- Additional Comments From jef 06/04/97 12:24 ------- When sending mail, the security info page claims I _can_ sign the message (and gives me the option to), when in fact I can't (I have no certificate). It correctly states that I cannot encrypt the mail, and if I try to sign it (or for that matter, encrypt it) from the mail options tab int he composition window, while it lets me check the appropriate box, it _does_ give me the correct failure message when I try to send. ------- Additional Comments From repka 06/11/97 11:22 ------- I can see that there is code in the SA that is attempting to handle this; I don't know why it isn't working. Jamie, any idea? I'll try to play with it eventually... ------- Additional Comments From marek Apr-03-2000 18:08 ------- mass resolving LATER and REMIND bugs as WONTFIX (however, if you own one of these and have a fix that can be checked into 4.73 [assuming that you have QA lined up for it], please contact 4.73 project manager -- angelabu)
Old bug just moved from internal to bugzilla. Reopening so I can reassign it and comment on it.

Moving this bug over to PSM and reassigning to chrisk. It's quite possible this bug isn't valid (since fixed or something); I was never sure about it in the first place. But perhaps chrisk can confirm that all is okay when the user brings up the Security Info page when composing a signed message *and* doesn't have a (valid) signing cert. It should tell them that they can't sign.
