Both apprunner and viewer quits silently when loading a page containing an applet. Maybe a problem with the JAVA 1.2-plugin installed in C:\Programme/Netscape/Communicator/Program/Plugins !?? Any idea how to get JAVA applets running with the current nightly builds ? Tested with nightly build mozilla-win32.zip from 15.3.1999
Severity: major → critical
Upgrade to critical, March 16 crashes PPC access exception on Mac into NS_NewNameSpaceManager at above URL when you select the applet menu link on left side of page and also at other sites when applet engaged, looks related to or dupe of 3788.

amusil will be posting instructions on how to get the java plugin running with seamonkey. We should also put these in the release notes for M3. We also need to get the plugin going in the netscape builds. moving this to M4.
For some reason, the publically available Java plugin contains the NSGetFactory entry point which is an indicator that it is a new-style plugin. We crash because there is a version mis-match between the NSGetFactory() the plugin supports and the NSGetFactory() we expect. I have no idea why the public version of Sun's plugin would have this entry point, but there's no way of fixing this on our end. To fix this, you need a new version of the plugin, which Stanley has not made available yet. I have cc'd him on this report so he can let us know when it's ready. The latest plugin does not work because there is still a mismatch, but it no longer crashes: ftp1.netscape.com/private/sun_oji/java-plugin-030199/jre1_2_2-win.exe Please download this and verify that the crash is fixed.
