Build ID: 2000050715 Couldn't find this reported-- Any local files you access/visit are added to the Go menu as blank entries, though they still function properly when clicked.
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
Target Milestone: --- → M17
Also blank on linux. 4.x adds this to the history: "Directory listing of %s"
Keywords: 4xp
OS: Windows 98 → All
Move to M20 target milestone.
Target Milestone: M17 → M21
don: you said m20, you targetted m21. retargetting to m20
Target Milestone: M21 → M20
This also affects FTP. Resum'ing. Can we retarget this? It makes file: and ftp: damn near unusable. How bout a relnote?

hard to say if this is a dup or not. claudius?
hmmm, I'm not sure either. It looks like a dupe. The question is will the fix for that bug fix this too. That fix involves some backend changes. If SH pulls page titles from the same backend source then that would fix this bug too. I don't know where SH gets page titles from. Radha?
I think this can be marked a dupe of 22174. When loading a file url, the control goes to nsDirectoryViewer, originally written by waterson. I believe this directory viewer probably doesn't use nsDocShell OR does not interact well with docshell, so that files/directories viewed can be added properly to SessionHistory. That's why SH is totally messed up while viewing directories and files and the page title doesn't appear properly and the GO menu (which uses title from SH) looks empty for files. I reassigned one of the root cause bugs for this to waterson. I couldn't find it. May be he reassigned to somebody else. If that is fixed and directoryViewer goes thro' docshell, I think this and 22174 will be fixed. cc'ing waterson, law.
