can't drag images inside an <a href> on linux. 4.7 can.
also, would it be reasonable to have non-<a href> images dragable? 4.7 does not
do this, but it might be nice to drag them on to the desktop to save, or into a
word processor. maybe draging with a hotkey held down?

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're asking for here, could you be
more specific? Is there something you can drag on other platforms that is
broken on Linux?
The second part of your report (everything from the 'also' on) should be filed
as one or more separate bugs. XPToolkit would need to add some support for
creating files from the content when dragging to the desktop. However, I doubt
we would have time in this release.

ok, lemme re-describe, scratch that first one.
--- Mozilla needs to be able to DnD images. ---
Today's linux build, and netscape 4.7 for linux can not.
IE5 can, it it's quite handy. Draging an image from one IE to another open's the
image directly in the new window. Draging an image from IE to explorer, or the
desktop, saves it there.
Leaving this as OS: Linux, but I think this applies to all OSes. Will test win32
tomarrow.

this worked for me last week; is it only broken on Linux or has there been a
recent regression?

Yes, this does work now. Opened bug 41405 on the second RFE issue.
