on my computer i keep all my mail in my nsmail directory, but i link my mozilla mailfolders to the folders in nsmail so i can have the same mail on both mozilla and netscape. i noticed while using mozilla if i compacted the folders that the link between the Inbox would break and mozilla would make it's own Inbox file and it would no longer be a link to the Inbox in the nsmail directory, i'm using build 2000051208

when we compact the folders, we create a new folder with just the non-deleted messages, and rename it over the original folder (in order to ensure we don't lose data). So any symlinks will be gone. So I would say this is a wont or can't fix.
