Details

(Whiteboard: [Perf])

running on debian potato glibc 2.1 linux 2.2.2 P5-150 w/72MB RAM. build is 20-Mar-1999 from cvs. apprunner is several orders of magnitude slower than Netscape 4.08. absolutely unusable. doesn't seem to cache any pages, and appears to drop network connections while downloading different pieces of sights [such as images, etc], causing significant download delays. download speeds also appear to be significantly lower than that of Netscape 4.08.

Re-assinged to chofmann@netscape.com. Chris, any idea who should get this rather all-encompassing bug?
putting ramiro, mcafee, kipp, pav, and bruce on the cc list. I think they have the best handle on where the current problems are and when we might get better.

lets put this on jevering's todo list.
This should actually be several bugs. We need to come up with a detailed list of performance problems and assign them individual bugs.

All performance bugs are now tracked by doing a query at http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/query.cgi with [Perf] in the Status Whiteboard. Perf bugs will be fixed...but not via this bug. Go see all the other [Perf] bugs and discussions.
Moving all Apprunner bugs past and present to Other component temporarily whilst don and I set correct component. Apprunner component will be deleted/retired shortly.
