This problem still occurs in the April 27 Win32 and Linux builds (build id 1999042708). There was no build released for April 28. Need to wait for next build before can verify.

Would there have been anything between the 4/27 release build and the latest debug build that Phil is running to have fixed this problem?

Re-open bug. This issue is still occurs in todays release builds. It occurs on the Win32 (1999042908) and Linux (1999042908) builds.

I don't think I believe this is really a bug. If you go look at the start page in 4.5x, you'll see it looks exactly the same way. There is a very large amount of white space to the left and then again to the right of the personal start page content. I believe netcenter does this to produce the effect of having the start page look "centered" in the document. But it doesn't look centered in 5.0 because by default our message window is too small...if you make it larger you'll see that it looks just like 4.5x does. I'll leave this open for a while. But I'll probably end up marking it as invalid. My only idea is to talk with Netcenter and ask them to redesign the start page if we don't like the white space.

Dependency bug 7087 has been verified as fixed. The default goes to the default start page used by Nova 4.6 and is properly aligned. I tested it on the following builds: Linux build 1999-08-07-08-m9 Win32 build 1999-08-07-08-m9 PPC build 1999-08-07-08-m9 This bug no longer occurs. The page has a similar margin as 4.6. It has improved. Resolving bug as worksforme.
