OVERVIEW: "Block Image from Loading" is confusing. Since it is placed on the context menu on images I got the impression that it only applied to the image under the mouse. Surprise - It really means "Block all images from this site"! STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. goto http://www.slashdot.org/ 2. click "Block Image from Loading" on the banner image at the top 3. reload page ACTUAL RESULTS: All images at any http://www.slashdot.org/ page is blocked EXPECTED RESULTS: Only the banner image is blocked. Or - if your intention really is to block all images for the whole site - rename the menu item appropriately.
This bug is a DUP of bug 33724, ""Block Image" is misnamed and hard to undo", which was marked a DUP of bug 33576, "Rejecting other-server images is undesirable for some popular sites". I won't do the same here, yet, because while the spec for a "Block Images" dialog in bug 33576 would address the problem here, that bug is marked Future. Assuming it does not get attention, something else might need to be done for FCS -- (a) renaming the context menu item (what phrase would get the message across without being too long - "Block images from server"? "Block images from site"?), (b) adding an alert describing what will be blocked, defaulting to [No], (c) changing the context menu item to "Unblock images from this site" when appropriate, and/or (d) removing the "Block Image from Loading" context menu item entirely. This last would force users to go to Tasks > Privacy and Security > Image Manager > submenu to access the same basic functionality.
