If this signature is deleted during text edits or you want to attach a different one than the default for your account there is no way of doing that. I guess signature should be special kind of text just like quoted text so that it can be replaced with a different one or added when missing. Reproducible: Always

Can you try beta2? What's your settings in Edit/Tools > Account Settings > [account name] > Composition & Addressing > please write all the settings from the Composition-frame. I don't think Thunderbird adds signature if "place signature below my reply".

Also, the above comment starts to dovetail a bit - mentioning about whether place sig below reply or below quote - is a separate issue. And it works for me by the way. As for the signature file - it is inserted when write msg is selected using the account settings at that time. If you remove the signature by editing, you need to replace it. No multi sigs available. yet.
