Turn off return receipt which is defaulted to "on" This is more of a reminder bug. We should turn off return receipt which is defaulted to generate a return receipt message.

This seems invalid to me. In 4.5, the default setting for "mail.request.return_receipt_on" is false.

Phil, right now in Seamonkey, when I send a message, I automatically get back a Return Receipt. I don't have any preference to turn this off. I recall mscott saying that generating a Return Receipt was hardcoded into Seamonkey.

I've been using return reciepts in the smpt protocol and just haven't gotten around to turning them off. Something keeps coming up =). This bug will help remind me to fix it! Thanks lisa.

Okay I've turned off return receipts by default. Eventually we'll need to add a pref or something which we can read in to turn it back on if the user wants return receipts....

Having a prefs for return receipts should be part of the prefs UI work right? Is that Candice's work? Fenella, for this bug, just verify that sending a message no longer generates an automatic return receipt.
