(Whiteboard: [parity-Outlook])
Some users (especially those coming from Outlook) want to use different sigs for Compose and Reply/Forward (or not to use any signatures for the latter two at all). I've seen that on three forums already. Perhaps we could have it for Thunderbird 3.1 or so?

This case could be covered within the scope of the general bug 73567 to allow definition of multiple signatures per identity, but would definitely depend on establishing the ability to do so first. Omitting signatures when replying or forwarding has already been implemented by bug 167319.

WONTFIX !?
Bug 167319 is already fixed, and bug 73567 already covers the remaining sensible needs.
Well, I didn't dupe this to bug 73567 since it doesn't discuss the ability to select the signature automatically based on the context as suggested here.
Thus, this proposal would be incremental to the general multi-signature part.

Is this what the bug wants:
- Compose have signature A (e.g., a full info signature: Name + contact details)
- Replies have signature B (e.g., shortened version: Sincerely, Joe Shmo)
- Forwards have signature C (same as B? Different? Why?)
Combine B & C?
UI:
Signature: [ Default Signature \/]
[ ] Different signature for Replies and Forwards [ Signature B \/]

Yep.
B and C could be separated - who knows what the end user might want...

I don't think we should create additional UI without a known specific need.

Since this bug is referenced so long time ago, since 2009, i believe TB tem should give a quick response to all users, making this update on the next Tunderbird update!
Thunderbird is perfect, but this bug is very importante to a lot of users.
Have diferent signatures if the user is making a new message, replying or forwarding.
'Signature Switch' addon would allow you to select whatever signature you wish to use when creating the email.
Although, using this addon is a manual selection process at time of creating the email and not a preconfigured to auto use specific signatures in predefined situations.
