Repainting the entire window unnecessarily doesn't sound like something that needs to be enhanced, it's a bug. Re-marking normal pending a better explanation in the bug log.

There is no plan to fix this anytime soon...Its a Big Deal (TM). Probably a > 3 man month effort.

if this is not fixed, it could have pretty significant ramifications for the editor. Every editing operation causes an incremental reflow. Could we please get some more information about the missing feature: what is the root cause, what platforms are effected, what is the likely performance impact, etc. Thanks.
