Attempting to load the mail 3 pane on the Mac the message frame is not layed out properly. Loading the same mail 3 pane xul file on Windows and Linux works as expected. May be a layout bug. To demonstrate in Viewer, load res/mailnews/messenger/mailshell.xul We would like to ship the Mac mail product with M5.

Peter, assigning to you because it's a .xul file. If it is a layout problem, a simple (non-xul preferably) example would be nice
Assignee: trudelle → evaughan
Target Milestone: M5
reassigning to evaughan as p3 for m5. I can't try this out right now, Jeff, is this really blocking deployment of M5 on the Mac? Is this something you folks have committed to for M5?
Peter, if we had the "blocking" severity, this bug would be filed as such. Our Mac folks are blocked on this. What is involved in fixing this bug? Is it days and days of work?
Assignee: evaughan → pinkerton
Pink, I have no idea what this is about. Don't have a mac so I can't debug it. Can you take a look?
This is probably a layout bug since if you just load: resource:/res/mailnews/messenger/3panemail.html you get the same problem with no xul to be found. reassigning to pierre. As a note, you need to install the mail/news resources for this to work. To do this, set all the variables in BuildNGLayoutDebug.pl to 0 except for "resources" and "mailnews". This will put all the resources into dist. Once it starts to build the mailnews projects, you can kill it.

Yes, this is a duplicate of bug 2236.
Status: VERIFIED → REOPENED
Bug #2236 has fixed the clipping problem and part of the scroll problem but we still have problem with the width of the frame that seems to use a fixed size instance of using all the space available. I re-open the bug

Priority: P3 → P1
Correct. Removed the current resolution of DUPLICATE. Set milestone to M6.
Summary: Mail 3 pane is not rendered properly on Mac → [PP] Mail 3 pane is not rendered properly on Mac
Alec changed the XUL to work around this, but the bug is still outstanding.
In order to be able to reproduce the layout problem, you must use mozilla/mailnews/ui/messenger/resources/ messagePane.xul version 1.8
Severity: major → normal
Priority: P1 → P2
Target Milestone: M6 → M7
Pushing to M7 and reducing priority since a workaround has been checked in.
This is still a problem in the browser sidebar as well, and makes the sidebar pretty much useless on Mac and Linux.
Priority: P2 → P1
Target Milestone: M7 → M6
Correct. Back to M6.
Target Milestone: M6 → M7
I have still no idea where that comes from so... pushing to M7.
Target Milestone: M7 → M9
Puhing my Mac-specific bugs to M9 before reassigning them to someone else.

URL's are not valid, can not reproduce this bug.
Right, the file mozilla/mailnews/ui/messenger/resources/ messagePane.xul has been removed since. I don't now how we can retreive it?
