I'm working on the fix right now. before I mark this fixed I'm going to: 1) update smoketest.html with instructions on how to see newsgroups in the folder pane 2) update the newsParser so it puts news summary files in the right place (for testing news messages in the thread pane) I plan to have this done for M5

I checked the fix in last night. But I'm not going to mark this fixed until update smoketest.html. I'll open another bug for porting and cleaning up newsParserTest

Confirmed fixed on Linux 4_30, will mark verified after checking other platforms....
