Ladies and/or Gentlemen: Please accept my apologies for just firing off a bug report in the manner I'm about to (probably misfiled under webtools) but your bug reporting system is rather detailed (nice work) and I haven't had the time to familiarize myself with it. Anyhow, I've developed a Java based RAID management application for my company's RAID storage products (MicroNet Technology -- the product is Genesis). I'm very interested in running this on the Apple platform (mainly G3) as Apple has chosen to make my company's product their exclusive storage recommendation for their new OS X server. Your plugin is brilliant and actually runs my app better than IE using MRJ2.1.1 (for reasons I won't bore you with -- but I'm sure you're pleased to hear it). The only problem that I've experienced is that modal dialogs are not modal. The dialog works just fine it is simply not modal. The app works as expected running under Apple's AppletRunner. I'm part of the MRJ seed program over at Apple and have access to several of their engineers. They tell me that enforcement of modality would be the responsibility of the application (I guess in this case the plugin or Navigator?) and is not enforced at the OS level (I'm really more a Windows developer and just happen to be doing alot of Apple stuff on this project, so I don't really have much insight myself)... So to conclude this rambling, Apple has knocked the ball into your court on this issue and I was wondering if anyone could respond? Unfortunately I make use of modal dialog boxes in such a way that this otherwise minor problem is very significant to me. Besides, I've always been a dedicated Netscape user since the beginning and I'd love to have all our customers administering their RAID arrays whilst running the application in Navigator on their Mac!!!! (Is this a great time or what?) Thanks for your time and consideration, Steve Holly Senior Software Engineer MicroNet Technology, Inc. steve@sbholly.com

I haven't the faintest idea of what you're talking about. However, I get the distinct impression that you are talking about some released version of Netscape Navigator -- 4.51 or earlier. This bug system is not for that. Please report such problems at http://help.netscape.com/forms/bug-client.html .

Thanks for your assistance. OK, reopenning the bug, and reassigning it to product Browser, component Other.

Reassigning bug to mark.lin@eng.sun.com I'm wondering if this happens only on 4.X. I will have to remind myself to verify this..

Steve, do you have a test case that I can try this with? Otherwise I am going to close this bug as "cannot reproduce".
It sure sounds like this should be marked works-for-me... So it is not a stability blocker for an M15 branch. I'm pushing this to M16

changing this to a "works for me" as recommended by jar. tangentially we need a policy concerning until when we would like to continue providing 4.x plugins.. that should fall out of 13848..
