(Whiteboard: QA BLOCKER- can't verify bugs 4886 & 5468)
Using 1999042908 on Linux
Doesn't happen on Win32
Mac ? I believe has same problem...
Get New Messages does nothing (even when there are new messages to retrieve).
Terminal window displays: nsMsgAppCire::SetWindow():Getting the webshell of
interest. No crash, just doesn't work at all.

Summary: [PP] Get Messages does nothing → [PP] Get Messages does nothing
Whiteboard: QA BLOCKER
On today April 29 PowerPC build (1999042910), Get Message does work. My initial
results was incorrect. I re-tested and Get Msg does work. I also tried it on
Win32 (1999042908) it works.
Confirmed on my April 29 Linux build that it does not work. I get the same
results as Laurel.

Hmm...this works like a charm on my Linux box (at least it did yesterday).
However, sspitzer got a strange assertion on his machine when he tried it. So
maybe there is something fishy there....I'm investigating...
Still happening on 1999043008 build, can't verify bugs 4886 & 5468 until this is
fixed.

Note: for my comment about it still happening on 1999043008 this is for Linux,
per comments above by Peter I don't think this is a problem on Mac. Scott
also note, after closing Messenger and opening it again the messages that should
have been downloaded previously with Get Msg are now in the thread window.

Adding bienvenu & putterman to the cc list. Upon further review with Esther, it
looks like the messages are in fact getting downloaded but they aren't showing
up in the ui. If you quit and then restart, the messages are there in the thread
pane. I'm not seeing this on my debug builds but will continue to try to
reproduce it.

Adding Alec to cc list. Is this possibly a duplicate of 5722? On both of these
systems we were having problems with the conversion between a folder path and a
uri (On Linux it resulted in paths of /u/scottip/mail//Inbox which Linux didn't
seem to like). Windows was the only platform where this wasn't happening.
Interesting. I don't have a problem at all with Get Msg on Linux on
1999_05_03_08 build. (I just verified bug 5572.)
I don't think there is a bug here?
Mac works fine (at least on the latest build we had where mail didn't freeze -
subject of another bug)
Linux works fine
Windows works fine
I'll go and see Esther now.

Actually I do see this bug on my debug build. The messages are getting
downloaded but not added to the thread pane view. I'm 99.9% sure this stuff
worked fine on Linux when I checked in my changes just before M5. I'm guessing
the conversion between a folder path and a URI is related to the account manager
landing that came right after my check in? If that's the case then it would be a
convienent excuse for the problem. =).
What do you think Alec?

Using linux build 1999050308 this is now working for me. I'll check with Scott
to see if we're using the same build before I verify this.

I take that back. Turns out my build was dying in one of the mailnews test apps
this weekend on Linux so the executable wasn't up to date. when I fixed my build
problem and re-built (so it should be the same as QA's 5/3 builds), I no longer
see the problem. Looks like it got fixed between Friday morning and now.
I'm guessing this had to due with the path to uri problems that Alec fixed.
Alec, let me know if you don't think this was the case.
Marking as fixed.

yes, I would guess that the Path2URI stuff was what was broken....

My earlier commments had the wrong bug number in it.
I'm marking this bug verified. Get new messages works on Linux now. This was
never a problem on the Mac or Win32.
