When trying to run M5's mozilla-apprunner.sh I get the following:
Reading file...Done
Gtk-WARNING **: /usr/lib/libgdk_imlib.so.1: undefined symbol: gdk_root_parent
the M4 release still works on my system.

New Development: the bug has to do with pixmap-based themes for gtk.
cattand@charlie.cns.iit.edu sent me the following after a post to slashdot:
quote (
i have seen similar errors, and my guess is that you are using a pixmap-based
theme for gtk, the reason it works as root is that you (probably) do not have
any gtk themes set up for your root account.
it seems that m5's gtk libraries do not cooperate well with gtk themes, as
every theme i have tried except default resulted in similar errors.
) end quote.
I can confirm his theory, as switching to "default" theme through the gnome
control panel allowed M5 to work.
Hope this helps!

might be a good addition to M5 release notes.
Upgraded to RedHat6.0, tried the Gradient and Marble3D themes in the refreshed
Gnome, and although apprunner gives the gtk_root_parent warning (many times, in
fact), it now runs. -K
