By clicking in it, you can scroll with left/right arrows! Regression : not sure, but don't really think so Addition comment: I like to see al the info at first, without addition work Friendly, HJ.
Make sure that 'Left/Right scroll stuff' is really 'Home/End' And that typo 'addition' must be 'additional' grm... Friendly, HJ.

This isn't a dup of bug 23508 -- this talks about the cookie display in the cookie manager dialog (accessible from the menu, also from the cookie pref panel) whereas the other bug talks about the info in the cookie warning box. But I don't really understand what this complaint is. Certainly the entire cookie information is in the dialog. The fact that it might not fit into the physical size of the field allocated for it is an unsurmountable problem -- not matter how big a field we chose, there will always be a bigger cookie (unless we have a field that can display 4096 characters). So the user will always have to do some scrolling when the cookie size is big. Also I don't understand the comment: > By clicking in it, you can scroll with left/right arrows! > : not sure, but don't really think so Are you saying that the scrolling is *not* working? If so, that's a serious bug. I am not able to duplicate that -- the scrolling works fine for me. Could you please be more specific as to what you meant by that statement.

Problems I see with the textboxes in cookie manager: - The textboxes are extremely small (which is what this bug seems to be about). It might make sense to fix this along with bug 51144. - You can't see the insertion point after clicking in one of the textboxes. (Filed as bug 62614.) - If you scroll past the last character using the keyboard, you can't scroll left again because focus is screwed up. (Reopened bug 25930.) The textboxes are also squished together in a strange way, and it's not clear that you can't edit the text they contain. (Actually, why can't you edit the cookies using that dialog?)
Let me be more specific for all of you. Window width: In a period of 90 days we did run a test on 1000 international websites, to observe what they are storing in there cookies. And if Cookies are used, for what purpose. I can't go into detail, but your window has to view at least 78 characters for most site's. So 80 would be save! At this point I think that viewing the first <20 characters on a white box is as good as nothing! Have you seen Internet Explorer 6.0 as I did? Cookie information scrolling: 1 - double click to active scroll, should really be a single click. 2 - there's no pointer/indicator/cursor at the inserted position. 3 - you get to easy out of that scroll 'function' for no reason. 4- The only two keys that seems to work are Home and End. No support for left and right arrows yet? And this is why you didn't understand my comment: "By clicking in it, you can scroll with left/right arrows!" Should read: "By clicking in it, you can't scroll with left/right arrows!" (end's here) Part two is clearly a reading error of you: Regression : not sure, but don't really think so Is it a regression????: not sure, but don't...... And If you are working for 18 hours on a row, like I do every day, sh*t happens (but hey, I only work 5 months a year). Lucky me. Friendly, HJ.
Did I mention H-J's BugWalker? Take a look at: http://members1.chello.nl/~j.c.drost/mozilla/bugwalker/startbw4.html (points to uri part of SpaceTubbies homepage) Friendly, HJ.
Patch that is currently in bug 51144 should fix nearly all the complaints mentioned in this bug report. So I'm marking this bug as a dup. If after the patch for 51144 is checked in (it's currently in the review process) you still see things that you don't like, then report them in a separate bug report. This one is getting unreadable. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 51144 ***

Summary: Cookies information not fully displayed in info box. → Large cookies not fully displayed in info box.
So, you want a multiline display for the cookie information?
I think that is the way to go. Most really, really long cookies are simply text blocks, so just wrapping it as a stream of characters into a fixed width, variable height text pane would be better than a single line w/ a horizontal scroll bar.

*** Bug 217696 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
my report #217696 does not appear to be a duplicate of of this report. My report deals with the cookie popup as received from a webpage, not the cookie view display available from the menu. problem observed: If it is elected to "Show Details" on the cookie popup, for "Contents:" only the first 51 char of the cookie text is shown. There is no scroll bar on the popup to allow viewing the full contents and the cookie popup cannot be resized. Suggested solution: Contents should wordwrap at and take as many lines as needed to display the full cookie contents. As noted in my report, nn the yahoo mail site, I accept the short cookies but reject the huge ones containing about 1000 characters. Netscape v4.8 which i just updated from showed the full cookie text and I prefer that rather than having to make an uninformed guess with no ability to see the contents. User should not have to do anything extra to view the full cookie contents while surfing, just hit <esc> to cancel or <enter> to accept, no pointing and clicking or scrolling. no mouse needed. Feature enhancement brainfart: an additional fantasy is having a size based filter for auto-accept. My reference again is the yahoo mail site. Some small cookies are mandatory and must be accepted to use the service. However, they try to set a huge cookie containing about 1000 characters of encrypted information at each page change. I have learned that accepting this huge cookie is optional so I always decline it. If mozilla could have a site definable auto-accept based on size it would certainly help on sites like this. It would auto accept cookies of under say 100 char, and deny cookies with content over 100 char [with size being user definable per site/location of course. :) Some fantasy eh?
If you think the bug you reported is a dup, you can reopen that bug. (But I still think it is the same bug. The way cookie details in the manager and in the dialog are presented should be the same. So this bug should be to fix both places) If you have an additional feature request, you can file a new bug (but in this case, i'm quite sure it will be wontfix. What is the general pattern that defines large cookies = bad, short = ok? Only at very few sites that pref would help)
Summary: Large cookies are displayed as single line w/ horizontal scrool bar → Large cookies are displayed as single line w/ horizontal scroll bar
Adding keyword 'helpwanted' or this might never get fixed ;)
Keywords: helpwanted
-> me, YACMB thought: does content need to be second in the list? if it was last, it'd be much easier to go with a multiline textbox looking at this, I don't think it needs to be earlier, if there's no objections to that thought I can implement this one for 1.7b

okay, maybe we do have a problem with this, namely making the long unbroken string wrap. Anyone have any thoughts on how to accomplish this? Until I can figure out a way to do this, there's no way to fix it.
