Summary: creation of a unique subkey in registry doesn't work → Need creation of a unique subkey in registry
Since filenames cannot be used a registry keys (for several reasons) we need easy creation of semi-anonymous keys to which we can attach filenames as entry data.

No, I don't know that this is broken on the Mac. There was a build problem when I checked in, but that is now fixed.
