on the frount page for http://www.startrek.com only one out of many images shows up. The image that does show up is an ad one linked to from another site, the code for one that does not show up is <IMG SRC = 'stcomimages/purp-mid.gif' ALIGN = CENTER BORDER = 0 WIDTH = 490 HEIGHT = 4 alt=''> It would seem that either images that use ' for the quotation (as opossed to ") do not show up, but on some of the images but the image with code <IMG SRC = "stcomimages/black.gif" HEIGHT = 3 WIDTH = 125 ALIGN = TOP ALT=""><BR> dpes not show up either . It may be that images in directories with over 8 letters will not show up as I have on my site (http://www.degus.com) images under sub directories and they show up fine, but the dirs have less then 8 letters for their file names Im using build 1999052619

I'm not seeing this problem on NT4. I suspect the image file names are not resolving correctly for the complete image URL. The images in the html are given as "stcomimages/foo.gif" which should resolve to "http://www.startreck.com/stcomimages/foo.gif". Just a guess. -pn

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this on Win98 using the 6.7.99 build. csbooton, are you encountering this using a slower dial-up connection or a high speed, direct Net connection? If dial-up, what's your modem speed? Thanks!

I got it using the 1999052919 (m6) build I have a 56k dial up modem under win 98

Using build 1999061008 , i went to startrek.com again, and all the images on the first page showed up (the first time there). But when I went the second time the lower three did not show up. the third time I go, the star trek continuum one shows up as does the ad as does the welcome to startrek one (it's at the top) and a simular one at the bottom. But the others (online shopping , inserection , mail accounts and the new movie one as well as the ones beside the continuum one) do not show up. I'm begining to think that this may be a cache bug, as why would it show up fine the first time but not the second time?

This is interesting. The symptoms sound like the description of bug#7417. But Bug#7417 is thought to be a unix only bug. Could you try something?... Could you minimize the left window by clicking on the 'flippy'. Then close the browser and reopen. The left window should remain closed (or minimized). Then try your test site again. After the first page load, do you still NOT see some images?

Yes, the same thing happenes and the sidebar stays closed. Exactually what happenes is that the images I mentioned before as being the only ones that display; display, then the ad loads, stops loading and then loads again and again and again (the toolbar says contacting host (insert host of the image here) . then it says it's says done, then it delays for a second then contacts the host again. i think the reason the other images are not loading is that this image keeps loading over and over and the others cannot load until it stops loading, but since it doesent stop they never load. For this reason I think it is a cache bug but am not sure.

I submitted a new bug, http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8119 (bug # 8119 ) and I think that it may be the cause of the images not showing up.

I don't see the problem anymore on my NT build. Changes checked in for other fixes may have fixed bug. Marking worksforme. -pn

Can't reproduce using 1999 7/6 AM build on Win NT 4SP3, Mac OS 8.6, and Linux. Verifying as WORKSFORME.
