This is broken off from bug 7696. When you right-click on a menu (not the buttons), it should show a context menu that gives the option to hide the menu if the menu is hideable, such as the Navigation menus. This would be especially good if you could undock toolbars/menus as the context menu could also give an option to redock the toolbar. This is not the same as bug 64324. That is a context menu for individual items.

By the way, if a menu or toolbar is hidden, there needs to be a way to reopen it. Maybe menus and toolbars that are hideable should be added to the view menu (I don't know if this is already the case). I also right clicked on the personal toolbar, and it brought up a menu. Therefore, there must already be support in xul for context menu on toolbars. Therefore, something needs to be done so that toolbars already with context menus add the values: Hide Undock (greyed out) Dock (greyed out)
Are you suggesting something like the context menu for IE's toolbars?

We could just duplicate the Show/Hide submenu of the View Menu. Come to think of it, this all sounds rather familiar. I think this may be a duplicate.
Could be a dupe, but I couldn't find one. I'm not exactly talking about what ie does. In the context menu, there would be only an option to dock/undock (which until bug 7956 is implemented would be grayed), and an option to hide. The list of all hideable toolbars/menus would still be in the view menu. That way, there wouldn't be too much added to the context menus in case the toolbar already has options it needs to put in the context menu.
sorry, that is bug 7696.

I've just realised that this is a duplicate of bug 45532. I'm on the CC list for that bug which is why this one sounded so familiar. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 45532 ***
