Overview Description: Sending mail works, but the "Get Msg" button doesn't seem to have any effect, preventing me from receiving any new messages. Steps to Reproduce: 1)Launch apprunner, launch messenger 2)Compose a message (on mozilla or any other version) and send it to yourself. 3)Click "Get Msg" (nothing happens) Actual Results: Clicking on "Get Msg" does not get new messages Expected Results: New messages should appear in the inbox Build Date & Platform Bug Found: 1999070616 Linux (Red Hat 5.2) Additional Builds and Platforms Tested On: OK on win32 build 1999070608 Could not be tested on mac build 1999070610 because of: You crash when you try to start Messenger. See Bug 9312.
Target Milestone: M8
Please retest today. I introduced a bug yesterday afternoon, after the tree opened, that would cause this, and fixed it yesterday night, but I assume you are using a build from while the tree was closed. Otherwise, I have no idea why this would be broken on Linux and work on win32.
Severity: normal → critical
We'll try it in today's Linux build and update here.
Hmm, I know I haven't touched the pop networking code in a couple of weeks (at least not on the tip). If the problem is still there, I would start of guessing outside of the networking code...command passing? JS/XUL code recognizing get new message call?
Hm. It's working for me with the 7_7 Linux build (I'm using the nsmail-5 account qatest30 as pop3.)
Using 19990708 build today on linux with 1 pop 1 news, I was able to send and receive.
So, can I mark this works for me or fixed?
Esther is going to look at jpatel's system to see what the cause may be.
Mark it fixed or worksforme. Jay's password was wrong in his prefs50.js file so he wasn't receiving messages. When he corrected the password, he was able to receive. So we're all working now.
