CCK build 2001-09-04-12 Reproducible: always Steps to reproduce: 1) remove previous CCK and config files (c:\program files\netscape\cck\ccktool\configs 2) install CCK 3) create a new config file, set Mail/News and select few componenets 4) build installer 5) create another new config file 6) go to Mail Result: pre-filled with the previous build info Expected result: blank Also when doing a "Show Config Info" with the Default file, it shows that all the previous input Mail/News and component info are written in.

Jimmyu, Since the Uninstall option does not work in the CCK build 2001-09-04-12, I assume you have manually deleted the files. Did you try the above mentioned steps by deleting only the "configs" directory or deleting the entire "cck" directory? In either case, I don't see the problem you mentioned. Which operating system did you test this on?
My bad, the OS that I'm testing this is Win2K. As for the uninstalling option, what I do is to install the 2001-08-10-15 which has the working uninstallation option over the current CCK, then uninstall it. Actually, build 2001-08-10-15 w/ the working uninstallation option also have this problem.
Does this happen on Win NT too? Can you pls. verfy it because I did'nt come across this problem.

Ok, this is what I have found after some research, there was a step that was overlooked and which is the culprit of this problem. The "Show Config Info" button, follow the same steps to reproduce but after step #4 on the 1st CCK screen select the previous created config file and click on "Show Config Info". Then continue with step #5. Also without going thru step #5 select Default folder and do a "Show Config Info", watch that the cck.che in the ../../configs/default directory gets overwrite. It doesn't write every settings but only the Mail, News, and Component settings.
Marking severity as minor since a user may run into this situation very rarely.
Severity: normal → minor
Raise the severity up to normal, because the user can run into the problem at anytime when the user click on "Show Config Info". It will overwrites the Default cck.che file with the viewed cck.che file that have Mail, News or Component settings. Then any new created configuration file from this point will have prefill Mail, News and Component settings.
Severity: minor → normal
I think I found a new aspect of this. It might be a new bug, but it is so simlar to this, that I'm adding it here. When I created a build on Windows NT, I added a custom component to be installed (The acrobat reader). I added the file location, component name, and size in the boxes on the "Create the Installer" screen. After the build was installed, I created a brand-new build. When I got to the last screen, the custom component name was already filled in with the component I had added on the last installation, as well as the component size. However, the path box still said "Please select an executable to install.". When left like this, and creating the installer, the component did NOT make it into the build. I was ONLY able to reproduce this on Windows NT, and not Windows XP (didn't try 2000). And I was able to reproduce it twice in a row.

This appears to be an old moldy from CCK 6.x. Rodney, you or anyone on your team know if this applies to 7.0?
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
Yes, this still happens with the latest CCK build 2002-8-23-13-1.0
Old CCK.
