Seems that this throws the error:
options.rp_api = "internal"
Cloning the object seems to be a good workaround.  Will try to find a gecko hacker to tell us the Right Way.
Blocks: basecamp-id
We've fixed this in our various message managers.  This bug is not useful any more.
